An official complaint has now been filed with the Guardia Civil. In addition to the costs involved &#8211; the stolen covers were worth about $ 10,000 &#8211; the councilor pointed out that the resulting potholes in the roads endanger motorists and pedestrians alike. Local police have stepped up patrols and called on residents to contact them if they see manhole covers being removed.
