Here is todays regional news:

The opposition party Partido Popular accuses the coalition government of Altea (Compromís/PSOE) of the lack of new playgrounds and the lack of maintenance and cleaning of the existing ones. Even with the refurbishment of public areas, such as the beach promenade, the result was no more than a measly playground with a slide, according to the PP. The removal of parking spaces is of course more important to the city authorities than the creation of child-friendly spaces, the PP adds.

The Comunitat Valenciana has classified a thousand hectares of cliffs in the municipalities of Jávea, Benitachell and Teulada in the two categories of landscape and bird sanctuary (ZEC and ZECA) within the framework of the so-called European “Red Natura 2000”. This area includes, among others, the islands of Portitxol and Descubridor of Jávea, as well as the Cabo de la Nao and the coves of Moraig (Benitachell) and Granadella.

Calpe’s indoor pool will be open from 07:00 to 22:00 on weekdays, from 08:00 to 14:00 on Saturdays and, if necessary, also on Saturday afternoons and Sundays. The administration will be taken over by the company Illitia Mediterrànea, which will receive almost 50,000 euros per year from the Ayuntamiento. The reopening is imminent after extensive renovation works.
