In a letter to the House of Representatives, the outgoing Minister of Health Hugo de Jonge has written that the negative antigen rapid test result for travelers from high-risk areas, such as Spain, can be extended from 4 to 24 hours before the start of the trip to the Netherlands. Currently, the mandatory negative antigen rapid test result for departure from high-risk areas by plane or boat has a maximum time limit of 4 hours for boarding. In view of the OMT advice and the problems in current practice for passengers, the Dutch cabinet has opted for the test to be conducted no more than 24 hours before boarding the aircraft or vessel.
